One of my all time favourite bands @citizentheband has released a new song, this isn’t linked to their last album As You Please so it’s brand spanking new!
Citizen are one of them bands that can clearly show growth between releases. Each and every project they have each have a distinct sound and this track proves that again. If they have an upcoming project linked to this, which I really hope they do then I’m enjoying what I’m hearing already.
Big Mouth opens up with Mat Kerekes vocals and Citizens signature bright bass tone. The vocals follow a forlorn nature in the intro as we’re being introduced to the song, but this shifts quickly when Citizen switch things up on almost a minute in, bringing in a blistering chorus.
The instrumentals are so sick, honestly, the guitar solo, the bass tone, the drums just before a shift in the song... that gets me hyped. I love the bridge in this song where it slows down and then it kicks off yet again.
If this is the sound that Citizen will have for a new project which I’m gonna take a guess and say that they’ll be releasing something soon as they’ve put out an album every other year. Then this sound has me gassed for whatever they put out next. What a sick track.
